We’ve been running Exchange Server in production environments since before its release. That gives us over nine years of experience implementing Exchange on everything clusters running Windows 2008 and Exchange 2007 down to Pentiums running Exchange 4.0. True to its Microsoft heritage, Exchange has never failed to go in easy and work just fine out of the box in small environments. In large environments there are a lot more issues to consider.

Our experiences with both enterprise (3,000+ users and multiple sites) and small (single server with a 10-50 users) installations have taught us a lot about what can go wrong with Exchange. Most importantly, we’ve learned how to develop architectures and deploy servers that maximize Exchange’s manageability/recoverability and minimize your firm’s exposure.
